Google has just rolled out Street View in Australia.
The long awaited announcement has hit Australia with an impact unlikely to be rivaled for a long time to come in any news. News puplications from The Sydney Morning Herald to The Daily Telegraph and local outback prints have coverred the story and just about every map and tech blog has been bombarded with comments, links and stories.
As much as they say google controls the world, they don't control the weather - well not yet anyway.
Although it's pretty amazing you won't find spectacular panoramas as you will find on streetviewNews, nor will you find any links to your business or website, and you definately won't find your street shot if you are in a plaza, off-street shopping mall or bus only road, let alone on the beach or in snowy mountains...
That's where we come in! Check out the maps on this site. See the sights, check out business panoramas and places google could only wish to get to.
Below is an image of what you will see if you click the Street View map type on the Australian Google Map. Everywhere you see blue Google has been there with their groovy mobile roof-mounted cameras.
High resolution 360 degree dynamic images of the streets of Australia are now available on google maps, just as they are in the USA, Europe and Japan.
Google is investing something like $1000 per kilometre just to capture the imagery for street view - Phew!
Below is an example of what you'll get when you place the 'little yellow guy' on a blue-lined street.
Below you can check out a dynamic street view frame of Bronte Beach, Sydney. Just click and drag it around.
